Yes tour canceled

NEW YORK, NY, JUNE 4, 2008 -– Legendary rock band Yes announced today that the group will unfortunately be canceling their 2008 40th Anniversary Tour. The 26-city tour was scheduled to kick off in Quebec next month and run through the summer.

Said Jon Anderson, “In the wake of my recent respiratory attack, doctors have advised me to spend the coming months resting and recovering. Unfortunately, this means I won't be able to tour with Yes this summer as originally planned. I'd like everyone know how deeply disappointed I am by this turn of events. I was looking forward to celebrating our music with the amazing family of Yes fans once again; but as we all know, health must come before anything else. Wishing you all the very best...”

Said Chris Squire, “We were all looking forward to performing for our fans after a prolonged leave of absence from touring. I am especially regretful of the fact that I know many of our fans and friends have probably laid out non-refundable airfares and hotels, etc. in order to enjoy the Yes shows this summer. Please join me in wishing Jon a speedy return to health, which at this point in time is our main concern.”

Yes frontman and founding member Jon Anderson was admitted to the hospital last month after suffering a severe asthma attack. He has now been diagnosed with acute respiratory failure and was told by doctors this weekend that he needs to rest and not work for a period of at least six months or suffer further health complications. Upon receiving this news the band has determined that their tour plans need to be put on hold.

Ticket refunds will be available at the point of purchase.

No more "school of rock" only 'school of hard knocks' for Jon now! Bummer. I didn't have my ticket yet; concerts are just too expensive these days, but I was interested and contemplating it- to see Yes again and with Rick's son, Oliver.
Jon had this before (brochial pneumonia then) which lasted three years! Wonder if he's smoking something bad? Scary! He's lucky to have his wife care for him- Jane.

too bad for Jon,-too much running around with "The School of Schlock",-he should have saved his voice for the real deal-hope he's OK
what's up with the 2008 tour concert ticket prices-
$150.00 usd, for Orchestra Tickets, this aint Bon Jovi man, this is a Dinosaur act, just rehashing their old stuff for the millionth time, I'm NOT paying them prices, might as well cancel the whole shebang anyway. What happened to "Love, Peace, and Happiness, now it's all about the $$$$$$
I think these old farts cannot stand each other anyway, it's just about the $$$$$$, and now they aint gettin any
Jon-feel better dude, maybe you will have to dip into your 401K like everyone else, or just keep selling your stuff on the web, to all those stuck in the 60's and 70's
later man -Pumpkin

Hey, I kinda agree wth them other 2 Dudes, -this YES thing, should have been called 'SUMMER OF GREED TOUR", I'm not paying them prices, I've got a family to support, not these dudes,
This concert would have been the "same old, same old", anyway, or anyHOWE -get it?!
Tired of Steve Howe doing his little same old, same old Guitar Solo, in the middle of the set every concert, & what about Chris Squire on Starship Trooper, strutting around like he's a Guitar God, or something.Yo Chris, there's only one Eric Clapton, and that aint you brother. Rick Wakeman can lay it down brother, but now we have his kid Oliver on the gig, yo Oliver, stay with your day job man, these Yes Guys are not too stable,if you know what I mean.remember the "tokes by the water", they are still toking, and it's caught up with them, time to let in some fresh air, know what I'm sayin? & finally Jon Anderson, is a real Space Case, & I don't need to spend $200.00 to hear him do Roundabout one more time, he's busy waiting for the Sun & the Moon to collide or something, and then maybe, he will have some new found inspiration to write a decent new song, know what I'm sayin??
I've had it with these guys, so I'm saying NO to YES, I'm takin the concert money, and taking my kids to Disney World, and taking myself out of this "time warp' thing called Yes, oh NO, NO, NO NO

Peace Brother Jerome

At least Yes survive ... They changed quite a bit over the years, even though they had many ups and downs - and Jeff Downes at one time!
Squire is the Yes-Central whom kept it all together, really! But his bass style hasn't changed much, I'll admit that! But at least give them credit for longevity!
